How to get to the beach Marti\u00e1nez<\/h2>\n

Playa de Marti\u00e1nez is located within the city itself, at one end of the promenade of Puerto de la Cruz, which is ranging from the Plaza de Europa<\/a>, through the Paseo de San Telmo<\/a> in which lies the beach San Telmo and the beautiful chapel of San Telmo, continuing along the promenade and reaching the area where we find a lot of restaurants, and also where is Lake Marti\u00e1nez, and finally continuing our walk along the coast, eventually reaching the famous Playa de Marti\u00e1nez.<\/p>\n

Some facts about the Playa de Marti\u00e1nez<\/h2>\n

Marti\u00e1nez Beach, like most beaches you can find in the north of Tenerife and Puerto de la Cruz, is a beach of black sand and pebbles. It is not nearly as large as the beautiful resort of Playa Jardin, since Marti\u00e1nez Beach covers just 350 meters of shore.<\/p>\n

Sometimes the stones, along with the waves, make it difficult to enjoy a leisurely bath. So if your idea is to spend a day with family or friends, catch the sun and swim quietly whenever you want, perhaps it would be more advisable that you switch to Playa Jardin.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, if your idea is not to bathe, it is a perfect place to enjoy the sea, take some photos and be entertained watching people practicing water sports in it, while enjoying some of the delicious ice cream you can get around the area and you delight in the sunsets of Puerto de la Cruz. You will also find plenty of places to sit right next to the beach without having to step on it.<\/p>\n

Either way, the Marti\u00e1nez Beach has all the services you would expect from a beach located in the heart of a city like Puerto de la Cruz: toilets, showers, restaurants around and perfectly enabled access.<\/p>\n

Perfect beach for surfing<\/h2>\n

If on the one hand, the beach is not recommended for a quiet bath, on the other hand, Playa de Marti\u00e1nez itself is recommended for surfers or people who want to start practicing this sport as its features make it a suitable for it, thanks to the continuous waves.<\/p>\n

That is why at the Marti\u00e1nez Beach is installed a surf school that provides training services in the practice of it, for anyone who wants to try.<\/p>\n

Caution while enjoying the beach<\/h2>\n

We recommend that if you’re going to take a bath at the beach Marti\u00e1nez, keep an eye all times at the color of the flag flown in it, since in some cases there may be strong waves and currents that will hinder the way back to the beach.<\/p>\n

History of Puerto de la Cruz<\/h2>\n

The area of Marti\u00e1nez was one of the most important points of the good old times that lived Puerto de la Cruz in the ’60s.<\/p>\n

Marti\u00e1nez Beach was also once known as the Playa Barranquera, since the ravine Marti\u00e1nez flowed here into the sea (Ravine = Barranco)<\/p>\n
