Programme of the International Carnival of Puerto de la Cruz<\/h2>\n

February 16. Opening of the Carnival and presentation of candidates<\/h3>\n

On Saturday, February 16, the Carnival of Puerto de la Cruz will officially begin with the presentation of the candidates for the Carnival Queen 2019.<\/p>\n

February 24 and 28. Gala election of Queens<\/h3>\n

One of the most emblematic events of the Carnival in the Canary Islands is the election of the Queen, divided into categories for children and adults, whose galas will be held on Sunday, February 24 and Thursday, February 28, respectively.<\/p>\n

March 2. Opening parade<\/h3>\n

On Saturday, March 2, the Carnival will begin on the streets of Puerto de la Cruz with the opening parade and the party until late at night.<\/p>\n

March 3. Day Carnival and costume contest<\/h3>\n

For those who prefer daytime party and do not want to lose hours of sleep to have fun, on Sunday, March 3 Day Carnival will take place with a costume contest.<\/p>\n

March 4. Carnival Monday<\/h3>\n

The party continues on the streets with Carnival Monday of Puerto de la Cruz.<\/p>\n

Wednesday, March 6. Mourning and Burial of the Sardine<\/h3>\n

It is a traditional ceremony announcing the end of Carnival with the performance of the Burial of the Sardine, which culminates with its burning.<\/p>\n

Thursday, March 7. German reception<\/h3>\n

Friday, March 8. Race “Mascarita Ponte Tac\u00f3n<\/em>“.<\/h3>\n

One of the most emblematic distinguishing features of Puerto de la Cruz with more followers every year is the crazy obstacle race “Mascarita Ponte Tac\u00f3n<\/em>“, where dozens of runners dressed up and wearing heels over 8 centimeters will have to reach the finishing line in the shortest time possible and overcome fun obstacles.<\/p>\n

March 9. Final parade<\/h3>\n

The farewell celebration of the Carnival of Puerto de la Cruz will be held on Saturday, March 9 with the final party and parade where murgas<\/em> and troupes, as well as German delegations, will participate as a tradition.<\/p>\n

March 10th. Pi\u00f1ata<\/em><\/h3>\n

On Sunday, March 10 the International Carnival of Puerto de la Cruz will be definitively finished with the pi\u00f1ata<\/em> celebration.<\/p>\n
