From November 4 to 10, the seventh edition of the Agatha Christie Festival will be held in Puerto de la Cruz. Every two years since 2007 this festival is held with the aim of remembering her work and the strong influence of her continuous visits to the city in the 20s, which inspired her to create acclaimed works such as “The Man from the Sea” or part of the work of “The Mysterious Mr. Quin.”
Programming of the Agatha Christie Festival 2019 in Puerto de la Cruz
To commemorate the acclaimed writer, numerous activities such as routes, conferences, film projections and musical performances, among others, will be held in Puerto de la Cruz between November 4 and 10.
Activities prior to the start of the festival
On October 30, before the start of the festival and as an opener, the presentation of the last work of the Grancanarian author Alexis Ravelo will take place, who like Agatha Christie also focuses his work on the black novel.
Activities that will be held during the duration of the festival
Numerous exhibitions will be held between November 4 and 10, which will be open to the public such as “The Secret Notebooks of Agatha Christie”, “Puerto de la Cruz in the time of Agatha Christie”, exhibitions made by students of the European University and the PFAE , as well as book release.
For film lovers, films in the original version will be screened, such as “Crooked house”, “Endless night” or “Spider’s web”.
The conferences that will take place during the Agatha Christie Festival 2019 are “Agatha Christie’s work set in foreign countries” by John Curran, “Agatha, Margaret and Jane” by Ken Fisher, “Novelist Andrew Wilson reimagines Agatha Christie as sleuth” by Andrew Wilson, «Why Agatha Christie is still the Queen of Crime» by Andrew Wilson and John Curran and «Millones de plátanos y un asesinato» by Ramón Michán.
City routes will also be prepared to honour Agatha Christie, such as the route organized by the students of the European University of La Orotava “Agatha Christie’s Inspirational Places”, or other routes such as “The Night of Agatha”, the theatrical route “The Poisons of Agatha Christie” or the route “A walk with Agatha Christie”, as well as a guided tour by the author Andrew Wilson.
In addition, there will be gastronomic activities, book signings and even the organization of a Escape Room focused on “The mysteries of Agatha Christie”.
