The Trail of the Senses is a friendly and short trail suitable for all audiences that is located in Cruz del Carmen, within the Anaga Rural Park, a few kilometres from the Jardina Viewpoint, and a perfect option for those who want to enjoy the nature and get to know new places of the island without going to paths that require greater experience or physical preparation.

Just at the beginning of the Trail of the Senses is Cruz del Carmen Visitor Centre, in which surroundings you will find some parking spaces, although on weekends it is usually crowded and it is not so easy to get a parking space to leave the car.
In the same area, you will find a beautiful viewpoint from where you can see the Anaga Massif, the city of San Cristóbal de La Laguna and parts of the capital.
Part of the Trail of the Senses was a Royal Path (Camino Real) connecting La Laguna with Anaga.
Why the name “Trail of the Senses”?
It has been named “Trail of the Senses” because along the way you will find several proposals, in the form of information panels, to make your senses enjoy the touch, smell, sight and hearing with the help of the surrounding nature.
In some areas, for example, panels will invite you to remain silent and listen to the sounds of wind, movement of trees and birds. In other areas, you will use your touch to feel tree trunks making up laurel forests. And other experiences that we invite you to discover by yourself.
Three Trails of the Senses
The Trail of the Senses is made up of three different sections, which you can choose depending on the time you want to spend in this area.
Trail 1
The Trail of the Senses no. 1 is a very short trail, which will take you less than ten minutes to complete, adapted for people with reduced mobility. It is very useful to get to know a little better the vegetation of the area.
Trail 2
The Trail of the Senses no. 2, of little more than half a kilometre, will take you approximately a quarter of an hour to complete.
Trail 3
To complete The Trail of the Senses no. 3, you will need between half an hour and three quarters of an hour, depending on the speed at which you are going, and it is the one with the greatest difference in level. Even so, all three trails have a low degree of difficulty.
In this third trail you can find Llano de Los Loros viewpoint, from which you can see the capital of the island, as well as Tahodio Ravine and Dam.
Some precautions you should take on the Trail of the Senses
If you decide to go to the Trail of the Senses on a sunny day, do not be overconfident and take a coat because sometimes in this mountainous area, you will find a very different weather from the one you can find on the coast.
If you decide to do the third trail and you notice that the ground is wet because it has recently rained or because of the high humidity of the area in some seasons, be careful to avoid slips, since the difference in level in some areas along with the slippery rocks can play a dirty trick on you.
In conclusion
