How to get to El Bollullo Beach
If you have never seen how the mountains and the beaches merge as if they were one thing, La Orotava Valley will leave you speechless. It is here, in the northern part of Tenerife, where this fine sand beach is hidden, safe from buildings and residential areas, and with its unspoiled charm.
On the coast of La Orotava and a stone’s throw away from Puerto de la Cruz, you can reach the Bollullo Beach by a road surrounding of green banana trees called El Rincón (if you go by the northern highway, you must take the diversion to Puerto de la Cruz-El Rincón). You can go by bus, called “guagua” by the locals (line 376) up to a certain point, and then the road forks. The car can take you a little further, but the access to the beach is reserved for walkers. In addition, if you want to live an authentic experience, the best thing is that you wear good shoes and do the whole journey on foot.
It is worth it because the smell of sea, vegetation and banana trees is unique, and the coastal breeze that runs along the cliff and down to the sand, shaking the branches of trees, will make you feel completely disconnected. It is a feeling you have to experience.
Its aromas will take you back in time, when it was normal to live in the middle of nature and cars, noise and pollution were not as usual as today. And it is incredible to live all that without having to travel kilometers and kilometers, just one step away from the tourist area of Puerto de la Cruz and in the same municipality in which the Teide National Park is located.
