The small town of Igueste de San Andres is located in the district of Anaga and has a little more than 550 inhabitants.

How to get to Igueste de San Andrés
To get to Igueste de San André, you will have go first to the capital, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and then head for the fishing village of San Andrés, where the beach of Las Teresitas is located.
However, to get to Igueste de San Andrés, before reaching the beach, you must take course towards the mountain at the bifurcation and continue along the road to the end, where you will finally find Igueste de San Andrés, after 10 or 15 minutes of curves.
If you do not have a car, there is also a bus line that goes to Igueste de San Andrés, specifically line 945.
What to find in Igueste de San Andrés
Once you arrive at Igueste de San Andrés, you will find the bus stop. In front of it are about 6 or 7 car parkings which might be free if you go on a weekday to this small town. If this is not the case, you will have to continue to another section of the road and look for a parking along the street that continues to the Church, where it ends.
If you get to park in the first squares that you find when arriving at the village, it will be a perfect place to start heading for the beach that is after descending by some of its characteristic streets. You will feel the essence of small villages where you can breathe tranquility at every step.
Playa de Igueste de San Andrés
On many occasions, the water usually covers most of the sand that is located on the Beach of Igueste de San Andrés, leaving little space to be able to enjoy quietly lying in the sun on the sand. Also this beach is not especially well cared for, and there are a lot of stones that cover much of the surface.

Hiking in Igueste de San Andrés
From the village of Igueste de San Andrés there is an especially characteristic trail, which is leading to the called Semaphore of San Andrés, an emblematic building in unfortunate conditions, but still impressing.
The trail starts from the Church of San Pedro. Strolling along the characteristic streets of Igueste de San Andrés, you will find indications as to where to continue the trail.
After crossing the first few meters of the path in the urban area of the village, you will start a hard climb up the mountain. Simply continue until you reach the “Traffic Light”. It will take about an hour and a half to reach the instalations of the Semaphore of Igueste de San Andrés.
This climb is especially hard as it is a path of continuous ascent and sometimes with great inclination. You can only rest from the ascent on the last meters of the route, which is not a path suitable for people who are not in good shape.
In addition you should know that there are very few places in which you can take refuge in the shade. It is recommended to do the trip on a cloudy day or in the late afternoon.
There is only one moment when the path divides. This is the road that leads to the Beach of Antequera. Do not turn and continue straight, because once you get to this fork, you’ll be reaching the last meters of the course, and soon will see your goal.
The views of the coast of the island during the trail are very beautiful and on more than one occasion you will pause to savor them.
The Semaphore of Igueste de San Andrés
The so-called “Traffic Light” of San Andres was a building that had the function of a lighthouse to indicate the arrival of ships by the north of Tenerife. As you can imagine, it is a place from which you can perfectly see many kilometers of the coast, from the Beach of Antequera to the coast of the capital, Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
This building was used until the late 80s, from which time it fell into oblivion, leaving an abandoned structure.
Due to the precarious state in which it is, it is not advisable to enter the building.
