One more year Puerto de la Cruz will be the place chosen as the finishing point of one of the hardest sports races in the world, which year after year beats new records of participation, the Tenerife Bluetrail.
Route of the Tenerife Bluetrail 2017
The start of the Tenerife BlueTrail will be in the south of the island, specifically in Las Vistas Beach located in the municipality of Los Cristianos. The route will continue through Arona, Ifonche, Vilaflor de Chasna, Degollada de Guajara, Roques de García, Pico Viejo, La Rambleta, Montaña Blanca, Lomo Hurtado, Degollada del Cedro, Ladera de Tigaiga, Chanajiga, Tigaiga, El Asomadero, El Mirador de La Corona, Mirador de San Pedro, Rambla de Castro and finally, in Puerto de la Cruz.
A journey from the south of the island to the north, from the sea to almost the highest point of the Teide, with a maximum height in the race of 3555 meters above sea level. And then descending again to the coast , but this time in the northern part of the island to our beloved city of Puerto de la Cruz.
The Tenerife BlueTrail 2017 is the race that reaches the highest altitude in Spain, and the second of Europe.
Modalities of the Tenerife Bluetrail 2017
Ultra Marathon
It is the hardest modality and obviously the one that more expectation attracts, carrying out the totality of the route indicated above. A total of 97 kilometers in length, of which the great majority pass by trails, 67%, followed by 19% in Track, and 14% on asphalt.
The time limit to finish this hard tour will be 23 hours.
Trail
A level slightly inferior to the one of the ultra marathon, with 66 kilometers of length. The start will be in the Street of Santa Catalina in Vilaflor on an altitude of 1,387 meters, and with the highest point on 2,520 meters of altitude.
In the case of the trail, the time limit of the race is reduced to 14 hours.
Marathon
The Marathon will leave from the municipality of Aguamansa, leading through Orotava and the small towns of the surroundings to finalize also in Puerto de la cruz.
The Marathon has a length of 43 kilometers.
Half Marathon
The penultimate modality of the Tenerife Bluetrail 2017 for those less experienced runners, is the half marathon of 20 kilometers in length, with a maximum time to complete it in 4 hours.
The race will start in the Plaza de San Agustín in Los Realejos and will have as goal Puerto de la Cruz, as in all other modalities.
Challenge
This mode is designed for everyone and will coincide with the end of all races. It consists of a circuit of 8, 3.5 and 1.2 kilometers in length, which will take start at Mirador de San Pedro in the municipality of Los Realejos and will end in Puerto de la Cruz.

Program of activities in Puerto de la Cruz at the finishing point
The goal of the Tenerife Bluetrail will be located near Lake Martiánez and Playa Martiánez. Beginning in the morning, will be a constant animation that will put the most festive touch to this race that every year gets a greater prestige on international level.
In the morning from 09:45, there will be performances of Jazz, by 101 Brass Band, followed by the Batucada Bloko del Valle at 11 am.
At 11.30 in the morning will continue the atmosphere with Los Joroperos, who will repeat in the early afternoon from 15:30 to 17:00.
Once again the Brass Band will brighten the evening between 5 pm and 6:30 p.m.
At 07:00 pm the awards ceremony is planned to continue with a concert at 19:30.
Curiosities and numbers of the Tenerife Bluetrail 2017
Undoubtedly, one of the participants who will attract greater expectation will be the Mexican Maria Lorena Ramirez. An indigenous woman belonging to the Rarámuri tribe who will run in skirts and flip-flops. She recently won an ultra trail in the Central American country with this rudimentary clothing and one bottle of water, which did not prevent her from winning.
On the other hand, it is worth noting the wide participation that has registered this new edition of the Tenerife Bluetrail, surpassing the 2,700 runners from 34 different countries.
