The island of Tenerife is an island so special that with just two hours of difference you can enjoy a sunny beach day while you take a swim at one of the wonderful beaches of Tenerife, and shortly after you can have a battle of snowballs with friends and / or relatives in the highest areas of the Teide National Park.
When and how often it usually snows on the Teide
This data is quite unpredictable, and is that there are years in which you can enjoy several times a panoramic view with a Teide almost completely snowy, usually between the months of November and February. And other years you can only see the peak of the snowy Teide without being attainable for the enjoyment of tinerfeños or tourists on the island at that time.
Seeing the completely snow-covered Teide is unusual, but when it does, it gives a breathtaking panoramic view to anyone in the area of the Orotava Valley, which although already precious in itself, is even more so with the Teide decked with an intense white color.
The fact that it is such unusual, makes crowds of people on the days when the snows happens, rush to enjoy the snow on the island.
Things you should know when it snows on the Teide
As you can imagine, snow and ice are not very common elements in Tenerife, and virtually no Tenerifeño has in its car the necessary equipment to be able to safely drive on roads with these elements.
For this reason, when there is heavy snowfall on the access roads to the Teide, they close the passage of cars until the end of the snowfalls and until the Teams that are responsible for the safety of the roads have enabled them to circulate them without any danger.
Since the access to the Teide by road is opened, there are hundreds, or thousands of people who start the trip to spend the day enjoying the snow. They are always well equipped with hot chocolate, a couple of snacks and the company of their Family or best friends.
Snow level on the Teide
The snowfall on the Teide usually is almost always above the 2,000 meters of height.
